Daily DIScription

It's Thursday and I'm ready for the week to be over. I should be getting a package in the mail today, so at least I have something to look forward to.

Today I randomly chose Heeley's Cedre Blanc to wear today. It has a nice clean smell to it: a little woodsy, with citrus and soap accents.

Another day without snow.

Today, I'm trying out Escentric Molecules' Molecule 1. It's hard to decribe because I can barely smell it. It's made from one ingredient Iso E Super (a common ingredient in perfumes) plus the unscented carrier. It's supposed to come and go during the day. We'll see.

Daily DIScription

Well, it's almost February and I woke today to find that there is still no snow on the ground! I'm getting tired of this.

Last night I got the Second Season of FUTURAMA and watched that instead of listening to Bush's last S.O.T.U. address, because in reality FUTURAMA is more relevant.

I made a cabbage, shitake, carrot & onion stir fry with grilled tofu and quinoa last night that turned out really good. I used chili garlic sauce in it, so it was pretty spicy. I was thinking that I'd rather open a little natural restaurant than do what I'm currently doing, but I don't know if I'd really want to cook for hours everyday. It would be nice if there was a place in town where one could go and get some quinoa and steamed vegetables though, or just a cup of organic soup.

Today it's grey and raining, but I'm meeting friends for drinks after work.

Oh, I'm trying to find a new perfume/cologne to wear so I ordered some samples from a store in New York and for the next week I'm going to cycle through them to find out which one is the best for me. Today I'm wearing Ulrich Lang's Anvers 2, which is nice and has sort of a powdery smell with some leather or wood notes (at least that's what I'm smelling). It's not masculine or feminine which is nice.

Yesterday I wasn't able to get to a computer so the following is what wore yesterday as well as what I'm wearing today.

Saturday I didn't wake up until very late in the day. It rained pretty much the whole day and was pretty cold but not cold enough for snow or ice (I'm waiting for the snow). When I finally did get dressed it was time to get ready for the Crispin Glover Big Slide Show and It is Fine! Everything is Fine event.

I met a friend for drinks and dinner at the Savoy before the screening. I had fried cheese curds for the first time ever. They were good but not too different from fried mozzarella. The "old fashioned" at the Savoy was good as was the vegan garden burger.

As always Crispin Glover's Big Slide Show was very entertaining and funny (the sound was very flat though) and his new film I felt was more accessible than his previous film What is It? I had mixed feelings about the film in general but at least it was something new.

Today I woke up listening to This American Life and then spent the rest of the morning taking pictures and notes for things I am going to be posting on ebay. It's not currently raining but it's not snowing either and they promised snow. Why do weather forecasters always lie? Anyway, I'm at the Ace Hotel and will post things on ebay right after I finish this.

Daily DIScription

It's Friday and here's my second entry into my daily journal. I'm on a role.

It's been really cold outside (in Portland terms anyway) but it's really nice and sunny which is some of my favorite weather. It allows me to wear sweaters and layer my clothes and it gives me an excuse to wear sunglasses.

Today I'm wearing the boots and pants I got on a trip to in NYC in October, 2001, shortly after being laid off. I haven't worn the boots in awhile but they started off completely white, covered in house paint, and with each wear a little more black is revealed as the paint cracks off. I was told Alexander McQueen had just purchased a pair, though I've never seen him wearing them.

The pants are referred to as my 401k pants, because after being laid off from NBBJ I was stuck with this 401k account that I wasn't sure what to do with but once I saw these pants I decided they were more important than my retirement (an idea I still stand by). Anyway, after paying the taxes for releasing the funds prior to my 65th birthday the pants took all but a few pennies of my "savings".

In case you are curious the badge (button, pin) on my jacket is a give-away from the Ann Demeulemeester store in Antwerp. It's a photograph of a wall sculpture in the store.

FYI - I might not post Saturday's picture until Sunday depending on what I do and where I am tomorrow. I may also post a Friday Part II photo since I'm going out tonight and will probably need to change.

            • Black cotton/poly denim jacket (Demeulemeester)
            • Black mirrored sunglasses (Theo)

After I got home I took a nap and then got ready for the evening: a party at Stumptown, readings at Someday Lounge (Skye's public reading debut) and dancing at Fez. I ended up walking by Stumptown and it didn't look like anything was going on so I headed to Someday Lounge which turned out to be perfect timing since Skye went on stage minutes after I arrived. The readings (to celebrate the 50th issue of the Believer magazine) were very good. After the final reading I walked to a friends to have drinks before going to Fez. Fez was pretty crowded and there were some problems with the sound, but overall I had a good
time. I left the club with a couple friends and for the first time in probably ten years I ate Taco Bell food (something I ate a lot of in high school). It was not disgusting but it was far from good and I am sure it will be another ten years (at least) before I eat there again.

I got a new sweater in the mail today! It's perfect timing too because it's been really cold in Po(rt)land. Check back tomorrow to see what the mystery sweater looks like.

Daily DIScription

It was suggested to me by Redshoes on the forum portion of the Einstuerzende Neubauten website (EN) that I start posting pictures of what I am wearing each day. The idea seemed intriguing to me as a documentary project so, over the coming year I am going to try and document, through photography, what I am wearing each day.

These posts may also act as a journal since some days I might wear multiple outfits depending on the weather, my mood, my health and what I do over the course of the day. Of course there will be changes
with the setting, lighting and physical appearance (my hair is getting more grey in it now that I'm nearly thirty five).

I may not post blogs each day but I will try and post a photo for each day with the missed days photos posted along with the current blog entry.

Okay, here it goes...

24 January 2008

            • Black lace up oxfords with white stitching (Demeulemeester)
            • Cream colored socks with black and grey dots
